The construction industry has always been lagging behind others in adopting the latest technologies. Robotics is one of the latest technologies that can improve the performance of the construction industry. Construction teams have begun employing advanced robotics to simplify complex construction processes and improve human safety in construction sites.
Automation and robotics are often criticized as causes for taking up human jobs. But robots and humans can work together using their complementary skills. The need of the hour is to re-skill construction workers to work collaboratively with robots. However, construction robotics has not been integrated with undergraduate programs yet. The goal of this project is to facilitate an undergraduate research initiative for the integration of robotic technology in construction education.
